Warwick’s Pennings headed for Stanford

According to school officials, Warwick distance standout Tori Pennings has decided to accept a scholarship offer from Stanford University. Pennings told the Times Herald-Record last week that she had narrowed her choices to Georgetown, Columbia and Princeton before embarking on the trip to Palo Alto, Calif. Apparently, she liked what she saw.

Boys’ swimming standings 1.29.08

Congratulations go out to Monroe-Woodbury for clinching the Orange County Interscholastic Athletic Association boys’ swimming regular-season title with a perfect 11-0 record. Warwick boys relay also headed to Millrose

The Warwick boys’ 3,200-meter relay of Mike Fox, Brad Ackerman, Ryan Florkiewicz and Greg Miniger will join squads from Somers and Shenendehowa in a New York versus New Jersey “Border Clash” event at the Millrose Games to be held Feb. 1 at Madison Square Garden. Pine Bush girls head to Millrose, V845 page

The Pine Bush girls’ 1,600-meter relay team has qualified for the Millrose Games to be run at Madison Square Garden on Feb. 1. Pennings to race in Boston again

Warwick distance standout Tori Pennings has received another invitation to compete in the prestigious Boston Indoor Games. Pennings will compete in the Girls’ Invitational Mile event on Jan. 26. Pennings competed at the 2007 event and placed 11th in 5 minutes, 1.40 seconds. Danielle Tauro of New Jersey won in 4:52.20.
