College note: Goshen grad Amaan Siddeeq (SUNY Cortland) won a Division III national sprints title over the weekend in Wisconsin.

I had a very busy day multi-tasking, shooting video for an upcoming highlights presentation and trying to find some good athletes to feature. The results have been rolling in.

Helping out at the awards table is Heather Iatauro, one of the finest track athletes ever to come out of Section 9. Heather is awaiting her graduation from Princeton next week, and is looking forward to a summer of relaxing and running in some unattached track meets before she starts her job with Lockheed Martin in Washington, D.C., in September. Congratulations, Heather.

Some quick action avoided a hurdles disaster. A heat of the 400 hurdles for the boys was sent off from the start line, and the race was half-done when officials noticed the ninth set of hurdles had not been adjusted to the proper height. A half-dozen people jumped onto the track and quickly adjusted the hurdles before the runners came around.
