Sullivan West junior Colin Seidl took nearly nine seconds off his previous best time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and brought home the Division II (small school) title, in addition to placing third in the Federation standings.
Ben Waruch of Rondout Valley won the boys’ pentathlon following a narrow loss at the 2007 state meet.
In the last half-hour, add state titles for the Warwick girls and Pine Bush boys in the 3,200 relay, and the Newburgh Free Academy boys added the Federation title in the 1,600 relay.

Section 9 produced another state champion in Millbrook’s Darnell Cummings, who won the small-school 100-meter title in 11.37 seconds. Tiere Spruill of Webutuck was third.
Jordan Coburn of Pine Bush placed second in the large-school 110 hurdles, losing by just 8-100ths of a second. Mike Fox of Warwick took second in the Federation 800, losing by just under one second. Nicole Rozario of Pine Bush placed fourth overall and third among the large schools in the girls’ 2,000 steeplechase, finishing barely under 7 minutes.
