We have a weather delay at the track meet
Someone saw lighting, and heard a clap of thunder at Vestal High School, so the state track and field championships are in a weather delay. Events may not resume until a half-hour following the last sighting of lightning.

Tri-county adds three more track golds by lunch time on Saturday

State track and field meet underway on a lovely Friday in Vestal
The opening day of the state track and field championships have begun in Vestal. It’s partly cloudy and about 70 degrres, with a slight breeze, conditions which should suit the athletes just fine.

NFA’s Randy Patterson is headed to Mississippi State
Newburgh Free Academy track standout Randy Patterson has earned a scholarship to attend Mississippi State University. He signed a National Letter of Intent on Monday at the school’s track.

Track athletes headed to college
The website Armory Track is reporting four Section 9 athlete college signings.
Sprinter Justin McCollin of Monroe-Woodbury is headed to Cornell.
Washingtonville’s Vinny DiSalvo and Minisink Valley’s Jake Albino are headed to Maryland-Baltimore County.
Washingtonville’s Nick Caesar is headed to West Point.

Newburgh’s Makarova places 7th at World Figure Skating Championships
Newburgh Free Academy junior Ksenia Makarova, 17, placed seventh at the World Figure Skating Championships in Torino, Italy.
Makarova was in position for a podium finish but fell on a triple salchow in what was otherwise a perfect performance.
