Heading into the final weekend
Defense wins championships. That’s what many of the Varsity845.com voters believe will be the reason if Monroe-Woodbury wins the Class AA state title on Sunday. Staffer Justin Rodriguez did a great job in Friday’s Times Herald-Record, breaking down West Genesee. Quarterback Tim Moran throws the ball over the place, which could cause problems. It will be interesting to see how well his kids can catch it, playing in the biggest game of their lives before a crowd of, I’m guessing 10,000.
It also will be interesting to see how Monroe-Woodbury handles a hostile crowd, as West Genesee is right around the corner and figures to be a good draw. Last year. Monroe-Woodbury was booed loudly as it came onto the field. The kids said they loved it, but noise presented some issues as the game progressed.
I still like M-W here, but if last year taught us anything, it’s that nothing is automatic.
