What you’ll be reading
Kevin Gleason checks in Wednesday with a column on the one Monroe-Woodbury player who hardly sees time, but he’s one play away from having his name on the tip of everybody’s tongue.
On Thursday, I’ll have a story on the the impact of what goes on behind the scenes in the Monroe-Woodbury program, beginning with the guy [...]

A chilly night; An exciting week
I’ve been thinking a lot about Monroe-Woodbury’s 10-8 victory over New Rochelle on Saturday night, and how to put what Monroe-Woodbury has accomplished in its proper perspective. Pre-publication M-W/New Rochelle thoughts
These teams are different from last year, but both starting quarterbacks return in Monroe-Woodbury’s Dan Scalo and New Rochelle’s Jonny McGhee. It’s M-W vs. New Rochelle
New Rochelle beat La Salle 33-7 Saturday night in a Class AA state quarterfinal at Dietz Stadium. So it’s Monroe-Woodbury playing New Rochelle at 8 p.m. Saturday night at Dietz for a trip to the Dome. This is the third straight year the teams have played. Monroe-Woodbury won the first two. Word is from folks down that way, [...]

State football playoffs
I think our teams have their hands full this weekend, much as it pains me to write this. Monroe-Woodbury has a bye into the Class AA state semifinals, where it will play the New Rochelle-LaSalle winner on Nov. 22 at Dietz Stadium.
I’ve been a big Cornwall believer this year in Class A, but these guys [...]

Newburgh-Minisink Valley
Check out the video highlights from that game. Unbelievable. Both teams appeared to handle themselves with class the whole night. It was a great night – and a great weekend – for Section 9 football.
Our final Varsity 845 football show for the season will air this week, breaking down the five sectional finals
Newburgh vs. Monroe-Woodbury
