The new top 10
Monroe-Woodbury and Warwick solidified their positions in Kevin Witt Top 10, putting up some big numbers against two pretty good teams.
Monroe-Woodbury, the state’s top-ranked Class AA team, ran its Section 9 winning streak to 44 games with a 42-21 victory over Newburgh Free Academy.

Helping Andrew Tolosi
There will be a fundraiser Saturday to benefit Monroe-Woodbury senior running back Andrew Tolosi, who has been hospitalized for most of the last three months because of injuries sustained in a June car accident.

Monroe Woodbury is No. 1
The Crusaders are ranked No. 1 in Class AA by the New York State Sportswriters Association. This is the first poll of the season. Monroe-Woodbury is putting its 43-game winning streak against Section 9 competition on the line Thursday night home against Newburgh Free Academy. Newburgh is ranked 24th in Class AA

Check out how Chester fares at Tuckahoe, in a rematch of the 2008 Class D state quarterfinals. Chester beat Haldane last week, and these traditionally are the two top small-school eams in Section 1.
