Army football moves to CBS College from ESPN
Army football has a new TV home for the next five seasons. In 2009, West Point was in the final year of a five-year deal with ESPN to show its games on one of its networks (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPN Classic or ESPN360.com) but CBS College Sports has secured the rights to three live and two tape-delayed games while ESPN2 will air the Friday night home contest with Rutgers.
The new CBS College deal calls for Army’s home games to be televised live through 2014, with scheduled starts at noon or 3:30 p.m. and determined by May 1. The ESPN deal allowed the network to set start times as late as 12 days prior to the telecast, though most of those games started at noon or 1 p.m.
The 2009 television schedule:
Sept. 12 vs. Duke, noon (CBS College)
Sept. 19 vs. Ball State, noon (CBS College)
Oct. 3 vs. Tulane, noon (CBS College, tape delay TBD)
Oct. 10 vs. Vanderbilt, noon (CBS College)
Oct. 23 vs. Rutgers, 8 p.m. (ESPN2)
Nov. 7 at Air Force, 3:30 p.m. (CBS College)
Nov. 14 vs. Virginia Military Institute, noon (CBS College, tape delay TBD)
Dec. 12 vs. Navy, 2:30 p.m. (CBS)
