Fox’s Rosenthal: Yanks could be in trouble with pitching

The Yankees have finally clinched a playoff berth, but how far the Bronx Bombers go in the postseason all depends on the pitching. Fox Sports baseball expert Ken Rosenthal believes the Yankees’ starting pitching staff is in trouble.

Now that the Yankees have punched their ticket to the postseason, FOXSports.com “Frankly I don’t see how it’s possible that they can lose in the Division Series,’’ Rosenthal said, “but the doomsday scenario is this: CC Sabathia loses Game One to Justin Verlander, if the Tigers end up winning the AL Central. A.J. Burnett blows up in Game Two. Andy Pettitte is not physically right for Game Three. Is it possible all that happens? Yes. Is it likely that they fail to survive? No, at least not in the first round.”

Rosenthal will be on hand at Yankee Stadium for Saturday’s Red Sox-Yankees game at 4 p.m. on Fox (WNYW-5).
