The NHL playoffs start on Wednesday

The New York Rangers will open the NHL playoffs on Wednesday with game 1 at the Washington Capitals. Versus will provide some look-ins for the 7:30 p.m. contest, but the network’s prime telecast is Phoenix-Detroit. Games 2 and 4 will also be shown in their entirety by Versus.
NBC Sports (Channel 4 in New York) will air game 3 in New York on Sunday, April 17, at 3 p.m. and game 5 at Washington on Saturday, April 23.
MSG Network will air the Rangers playoff games which are not on NBC, although there may be conflicts with the upcoming New York Knicks NBA playoff schedule. The Rangers-Caps series opener will air on MSG Plus.

Versus will air two games on most nights, and provide look-ins for other contests at the same time during intermission breaks. Versus’ Hockey Central program will provide a pregame on most nights at 6:30 p.m., a post-game/pre-game at 9:30 p.m. and a final wrapup at the conclusion of the final telecast, typically around 12:30 or 1 a.m.
Versus has not announced its schedule for the final four days (April 24-27) of the first round, obviously waiting for the best matchups of the series that go six and seven games.

I’ve included the schedules for the Canadian Broadcast Corporation (CBC) and The Sports Network (TSN) for our friends north of the border. Mind you, any game not aired on Versus and NBC in the United States will be available on the subscription NHL CenterIce package on digital cable.

The NHL Network will also be airing replays of playoff games, typically one game at 4 a.m. from earlier in the night and two replays at noon and 2 p.m. the next day. The NHL Network will also originate its own playoff pregame show on a nightly basis at 6 p.m., and will use its NHL On the Fly show for updates and wrapups the rest of the evening.
