The service academy rivalry football game pitting Army and Air Force has been shifted from Versus to CBS Sports on Nov. 5. The contest will air at 3:30 p.m. Eastern.
CBS originally had the Louisiana State-Alabama game slated for 3:30 p.m., but with the top two teams in the nation squaring off, CBS worked out a deal to shift the game to a prime-time slot at 8 p.m. Needing a game to fill in its normal 3:30 slot, CBS struck a deal with Versus to air the Army-Air Force game. Now, for the first time, CBS will air all three games for the Commander-in-Chief Trophy (having already shown the Air Force-Navy game).
Versus will televise the Nov. 19 game pitting Colorado State and Texas Christian, which was originally slated for cable’s CBS Sports Network.
CBS also had to work a deal with ESPN since it already aired its one prime-time SEC game (Alabama-Florida) allowed in its contract. It’s likely ESPN will get a first choice of a prime SEC game in the coming seasons.
