The New York Marathon will be televised by ESPN2 and a local audience on WABC-7 starting with this year’s event on Nov. 4. WABC will air a two-hour pre-race show from 7-9 a.m. and will simulcast ESPN2′s live coverage from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. WABC-7 will continue its live coverage until 2 p.m. The ABC network will provide a two-hour marathon wrapup show later in the afternoon.
The New York Marathon has been televised by NBC Sports, in conjunction with WNBC-4, for many recent years. WNBC-4 has aired live coverage while NBC Sports prepared an afternoon wrapup show. Since 2008, Universal Sports has aired live coverage, but that network has not gained a lot of traction in cable TV homes and recently lost a lot more audience when many cable outlets dropped the channel as of Jan. 1.
