WKIP-FM dumps news-talk format for country music

Poughkeepsie radio station WKIP (1450-AM) has decided to stop simulcasting its programming on 99.3-FM, otherwise known as NewsTalk 99.3, which was billed as a news and talk station for Orange, Ulster and Sullivan counties. All of WKIP-AM’s programming aired on the FM outlet, except for Marist College sports.
With hardly any notice, the station has decided to simulcast country music station WRWD (107.3-FM) on the 99.3 frequency.
Just great … another country music station (as you can tell, not a big country fan here).
It’s too bad because I liked having the clear FM signal for my afternoon and evening talk shows.
