Australian Open tennis will have day-long coverage

The Australian Open tennis championships will become a nearly round-the-clock show during the course of the two-week tournament when the main draw gets underway Sunday evening (Monday morning in Melbourne).
ESPN2 will be the main provider to the United States, with supplementary coverage by Tennis Channel. On most days, daily coverage starts at 7 p.m. with two live hours on Tennis Channel (four hours on Jan. 16-17), and ESPN2 picking up live coverage at 9 p.m. and running through 7 a.m. the next morning.
ESPN’s announce team features Cliff Drysdale, Chris Fowler, Darren Cahill, Patrick McEnroe, Brad Gilbert, Chris Evert, Mary Joe Fernandez and Pam Shriver. Chris McKendry will serve as a host and Tom Rinaldi will provide interviews and features.
Tennis Channel’s announce team will include Bill Macatee, Martina Navratilova, Brett Haber, Justin Gimelstob and Lindsay Davenport. Rennae Stubbs will provide features and Jon Wertheim will serve as a reporter.
ESPN2’s coverage can be viewed on WatchESPN.com. Also, ESPN3.com will provide live feeds from the three show courts, plus four other courts – that same action can be accessed from AustralianOpen.com.
ESPN will also have coverage on ESPN Interactive TV, seen on DIRECTV and ESPN3, with viewers able to watch the ESPN2 feed or action from five other courts. The announcers will be Steve Weissman, Chanda Rubin, Jeff Tarango, Leif Shiras, Elise Burgin, Doug Adler, Nick Lester, Christen Bartelt, Mark Donaldson and Brian Webber.
Tennis Channel will present separate editions of Australian Open Today, a re-cap show that will provide replays of action, interviews and features.

Melbourne is 16 hours ahead of New York. For quick translation, add four hours to our current time and switch the a.m. and p.m.
