NBC will air 15 regular-season games on the weekends. The network rings in the new season with two games on the opening weekend, splitting a national telecast on Saturday, Jan. 19, with the Penguins visiting the Flyers and the Blackhawks in attendance for the Kings’ Stanley Cup banner raising. The next afternoon, the Flyers play at the Sabres.
The most significant scheduling, though, comes on the final two weekends. The Devils and Rangers are scheduled for both Sunday, April 21, and Saturday, April 27, with no start times as of yet. A Blues-Avalanche game is set for April 21 at 5:30 p.m., so perhaps that is an afternoon twinbill, or perhaps a regional window. The final night of the season, April 27, has the Kings hosting the San Jose Sharks at 10:30 p.m., making it likely the first West Coast prime time telecast in network history, with the Devils-Rangers either immediately preceding it or utilizing an afternoon time slot to promote the late-night telecast.
