NBC announces Olympic broadcast lineup

NBC Sports released its talent lineup for the 2014 Sochi Olympics, to be held next month in the Russian resort city. Bob Costas serves as the primetime and late-night host, and Al Michaels and Dan Patrick handle the brunt of daytime host duties on NBC Sports Net. British import Rebecca Lowe, who handles NBC’s Premier League soccer hosting duties, will serve as a host on NBCSN. NBC News anchor Lester Holt will handle daytime hosting duties on NBC.
There are no real surprises in the announcing lineups. Rangers’ radio voice Kenny Albert joins the usual NBC lineup of Doc Emrick and Dave Strader. Liam McHugh will serve as a hockey host, as will Kathryn Tappen, brought over from the NHL Network.
Giants’ radio voice Bob Papa will call action in Nordic combined and ski jumping, and MSG studio host Al Trautwig reprises his role in Nordic combined and cross-country skiing.
Terry Gannon will see plenty of air time as play-by-play man for figure skating and short-track speedskating. Tom Hammond will also have figure skating calls.
Matt Vasgersian, who has worked as a baseball studio host for MLB Network and Fox Sports, will call freestyle skiing.
