Christmas viewing picks strictly on hoops

Christmas Day (on Tuesday) will be a boom for basketball and a dud for everything else.
The NBA will feature five games on ESPN and ABC, and college basketball says ‘Aloha” with four games in the final round of the Diamond Head Classic in Honolulu, Hawaii, on ESPNU and ESPN2.
Pro hoops will take you from noon to 1 a.m. Wednesday with five games. The Milwaukee Bucks make their first Christmas Day appearance since 1977 when they play at the New York Knicks at noon on ESPN. ABC follows with three games: Oklahoma City plays at Houston at 3 p.m.; Philadelphia plays at Boston at 5:30 p.m.; and, the featured game is the Los Angeles Lakers at Golden State at 8 p.m. ESPN wraps up the evening with Portland visiting Utah at 10:30 p.m.
In the college ranks, the opening tap of the Diamond Head Classic is set for 8 a.m. (!!!) in Honolulu, and 1 p.m. in New York as Colorado faces Charlotte, followed by Hawaii and Rhode Island around 3:30 p.m. The third game on ESPNU has Bucknell taking on Nevada Las Vegas at 6:30 p.m. (Army fans should keep an eye out because the Black Knights and Bison open Patriot League play next Wednesday at West Point). The championship contest pits Indiana State and Texas Christian (coached by Jamie Dixon) at 9 p.m. on ESPN2.
