Helping Haiti: Walden Rotary, community raises support

The Rotary Club of Walden is helping its international organization with the ShelterBox program, which has been giving tents for families in need of shelter.

Emergency shelter for more than 20,000 people has arrived in Port au Prince and surrounding areas and hundreds more ShelterBoxes containing disaster relief tents and other life-saving supplies are being sent. The program chartered a plane to fly another round of boxes to the country this week.

What more, Walden’s Fundraising Weekend for Haiti, which included a concert at the Hudson Valley Conservatory, raised more than $3,000 for the American Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund.
