The Nevele Grande: Video now and then

In an exclusive in today’s Times Herald-Record (read it here) we reported that the Nevele Grande hotel, run into the ground by owner Joel Hoffman, has been turned over to Hoffman’s former partner, Mitchell Wolff. This exhange was ordered by an acting state Supreme Court judge.

People around Ellenville are quietly lauding the decision.

I was searching the Web for various Nevele clips today and found these videos.

This is a TV commercial from 1981, at the height of the Nevele’s popularity as a jewel of the ‘Gunks and one of the greatest vacation destinations in our area. Check it out:

Then someone, apparently on a recent senior high school trip, juxtaposed that old video against the hotel’s current conditions. Leaks, broken radiators, collapsing ceilings. Check it out:

Let’s all hope that Wolff can find a buyer who’s willing to invest in the Nevele, rehire local workers and get this place back on a sound foundation as soon as possible.
