Trimble off to KC
Army senior wide receiver Jeremy Trimble has been invited to the Kansas City Chiefs rookie mini-camp this weekend.
Army all-time leading receiver will have to earn a free-agent contract based on his performance.
Trimble’s speed won’t turn heads in KC but his toughness and
play-making ability should make it a no-brainer for the Chiefs to at
least give him [...]

Campbell a fan favorite
Caleb Campbell was the story of the NFL draft’s second day at Radio City Music Hall Sunday.
Fans in Giants, Jets and Rutgers jerseys chanted “Ca-leb Campbell” before Army’s senior safety was officially drafted by the Detroit Lions in the seventh round with the 218th overall pick.
ESPN personalities Trey Wingo, Ron Jaworski, Cris Carter, Chris Mortensen [...]

Scappaticci on spring practice
Army will not name its captains until preseason in August but there’s a
good chance that junior middle linebacker Frank Scappaticci will be one
of the candidates.
Scappaticci was third on the team with 89 tackles, playing outside
linebacker, in 2007. He also had two interceptions. Scappaticci talks
about how spring practice went and his position change.
How the spring [...]

Campbell on ESPN Prime Time
Army senior safety Caleb Campbell will be featured on an episode of ESPN’s E:60 at 8 p.m. Tuesday night.
ESPN reporter Rachel Nichols recently visited West Point to interview
Campbell as he awaits the NFL draft this Saturday and Sunday.
I’m sure they will talk about Campbell’s flight from a football player
few colleges recruited out of Perryton, Texas [...]

Spring scrimmage
I couldn’t tell you who won Army’s defensive scrimmage to end its spring practice season.
I don’t think Coach Brock and his staff were keeping score.
Quarterbacks Chip Bowden and Kyle Stancombe scored on scrambles.
Reserve defensive back Vincent Comasco returned a Stancombe pass 55 yards
for a touchdown.
A few quick thoughts:
Sophomore quarterback Carson Williams looked good [...]

Young at West Point
Former Army football coach Jim Young visited West Point Wednesday and was at Army football practice.
No doubt, Young will checking out Army’s progress with installing its new offense. Young ran the wishbone offense as Army’s coach from 1983-1990 and complied a 51-39-1 career record. He led Army to three bowl games, two wins, in his [...]

QB situation
Army football only went two-deep on its opening spring practice depth chart.
Sophomore Carson Williams was listed at No. 1 and freshman Chip Bowden No. 2.
I’ve been told Williams and Bowden are getting reps in practice along
with junior Carlo Sandiego. Sandiego ran the option at prep school and
might be one of the few players on Army’s [...]
