Recruiting update: Hunter Blackmore

Looks like Kentwood (Wash.) senior center Hunter Blackmore is no longer headed to West Point. Blackmore, ranked the nation’s 19th-best center by scout.com., verbally committed to Army in mid-December. But two weeks ago, Blackmore received a call from Army recruiting coordinator Tucker Waugh. Waugh told Blackmore, who was going to be a direct admit to West Point, if he was [...]

A Calhoun contract extension

The Associated Press reported Wednesday Air Force football coach has agreed to a 5-year contract extension, which would keep him in Colorado Springs until 2013. Not the greatest news for Army football fans. Calhoun put Air Force back in track in two seasons. He’s 17-9 and has led the Zoomies to consecutive bowl games. And Calhoun is 2-0 against Army.

Walsh next Cal Poly coach (UPDATED)

The Tribune of San Luis Obispo is reporting former Army offensive coordinator Tim Walsh will be named Cal Poly head football coach. No, this isn’t an early April Fools Day joke. Walsh is expected to replace Rich Ellerson, who took the Army head coaching job. It’s almost like Army and Cal Poly made a trade. Now the question is [...]

Who will be Army’s next offensive coordinator?

That’s the $1 million question. Well maybe $100,000. Odds are Ian Shields, who was the offensive coordinator at Cal Poly under Rich Ellerson, will be brought in by the new Army head coach. One name you can remove from the list is Charlie Taaffe, a popular name in the message-board world. Taaffe, Army’s offensive coordinator from 1984-86, [...]
