Bowl update
Well, my dream of a Army-Florida State Eagle Bank Bowl is officially over.
If Army defeats Navy on Dec. 12, which is a big if, it will not be playing an Atlantic Coast Conference team in the Eagle Bank Bowl.
The ACC has only seven bowl-eligible teams. Florida State is No. 7. The EagleBank Bowl would have awarded the No. 8 ACC team a berth in its game.
Now it’s looking like a Conference USA team would assume one berth.
ESPN.com Mark Schlabach and Bruce Feldman’s bowl projections are missing Army. So both must be thinking Navy will win its eighth game over its service-academy rival in Philadelphia. Schlabach has Bowling Green vs. Southern Mississippi in the EagleBank Bowl. Feldman has Middle Tennesse State vs. Central Florida.
