The finalists for Army’s AD position are… (Updated)

Word is Boo Corrigan, Duke’s senior associate athletic director for external affairs, remains the front runner to become Army’s next athletic director.

Corrigan is one of at least three finalists after initial interviews, according to sources . He also has a pretty solid endorsement from one of West Point most distinguished graduates.

Duke men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski has highly recommended Corrigan for the position.

The other finalists are believed to be Big East senior associate commissioner Nick Carparelli, and Colgate athletic director David Roach.

Carparelli oversees football and corporate sponsorship for the Big East. He was a assistant director of football operations at Syracuse from 1992-95 and a football administrator at Notre Dame nearly 10 years ago.

Roach has been Colgate’s director of athletics for the last six years.  He’s served on the executive committee of the NCAA and is the president of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics.

Roach also was Brown’s athletic director in the 1990s and served in the Marines for 3 years.

A source said the next set of interviews will be on Dec. 29. Army is hoping to have a new athletic director in place around the new year. It is believed six candidates were interviewed in the first wave.

Tom Cafaro, a 1971 West Point graduate and former lacrosse player, is not believed to be in the mix anymore.
