Athletic director update

Army has narrowed its search for a new athletic director down to three candidates, the Times Herald-Record has learned.

Boo Corrigan, Duke’s senior associate director of athletics for external affairs, Columbia athletic director Dr. M Dianne Murphy and Wisconsin senior associate athletic director for operations Sean Frazier.

Corrigan is the lone candidate without prior experience as an athletic director. He is the son of former ACC commissioner Gene Corrigan. Corrigan spent time at Notre Dame and Navy prior to Duke.

Murphy is in her seventh year, leading Columbia athletics, which has 31 programs. She was the athletic director at the University of Denver for six years prior to Columbia. Murphy also worked at Cornell, where she was oversaw alumni and booster activities and Iowa.

Frazier was the director of athletics at Merrimack College in North Andover, Mass.  for two years before being hired by Wisconsin in 2007. He was also an athletic director at Clarkson and Manhattanville. Frazier played football for Alabama from 1987-91.

Due to inclement weather after Christmas, interviews are not expected to be completed until Jan. 11.
