Army opened its 2012 preseason camp with a two-hour, walk-through practice.

Lining up with the first-team offense were QB Trent Steelman, FB Larry Dixon, RB Raymond Maples, RB Terry Baggett, WR Patrick Laird, LT Ben Jebb, LG Frank Allen, C Ryan Powis, RG Steve Shumaker, RT Momo Kime.

Senior Malcolm Brown, who has started the last three seasons at slotback, rotated in with E.J. Tucker at one receiver spot. Others players working in with the first team were RG Will Wilson, WR Anthony Stephens, T Dan Whitaker (worked in at both tackle spots).

Lining up with the first-team defense were DE Holt Zalneraitis, DE Zach Watts, DT Joe Drummond, DT Bobby Kough, bandit Nate Combs; rover Justin Trimble, MLB Geoff Bacon, CB Josh Jackson, CB Tyler Dickson, SS Hayden Pierce, FS Ty Shrader.

Junior Scott Williams has moved from slotback to wide receiver.

Junior defensive end and captain Jarrett Mackey, who is coming back from ACL surgery, was limited. Other players limited were CB Waverly Washington, C Todd McDonald; CB Lamar Johnson-Harris and  S Addison Holstein.

Players working with “bandit” coach John Brock were senior Nate Combs; sophomore Julian Holloway; sophomore Jim Forgrave; junior Corey Watts; freshman Dalton Mendenhall and freshman Tyler McLees.

Josh Jackson, Scott Williams and freshman Jared Rogers practiced returning punts.

Freshman quarterback A.J. Schurr was working with the third and fourth groups behind Trent Steelman and sophomores Angel Santiago and Gino DeBartolo.

One month until season opener at San Diego State.
