Army offensive coordinator Ian Shields was stressing a quicker pace in practice.
A few times, Shields told his unit they got to be faster.
Junior defensive tackle Bobby Kough (illness) returned to practice at full speed and was working with the first unit.
Junior wide receiver Patrick Laird made a nice quick on an inside route.
Sophomore defensive end Colin Linkul was practicing without restriction.
Dan Grochowski took the first field goal attempts in practice but freshman and senior Eric Osteen are likely to be listed as co-starters on Army’s depth chart.
Junior starting right tackle Momo Kime also worked in at center with the first team. Senior Will Wilson is expected to start for injured sophomore Ryan Powis and Kime would be the backup. Junior Dan Whitaker saw more reps at right tackle just in case.
Junior defensive end Kyle Maxwell saw some first-team snaps with starter Holt Zalneraitis, who is banged up, also taking turns.
Army co-defensive coordinator Payam Saadat worked with the kick-block unit late in practice and reminded them that San Diego State didn’t attempt a field goal or extra point against Washington late Saturday. Saadat told the unit they have to be ready for anything against the Aztecs this Saturday.
