Army senior Trent Steelman ranks second in nation among quarterbacks with five rushing touchdowns.
It looks like Steelman, a four-year starter, will have a chance to add to the total Saturday against Stony Brook.
Steelman, who left Army’s 49-37 loss to Wake Forest with an apparent left rib injury in the fourth quarter, may not miss any games.
Bob Steelman said his son told him, “all is good.”
A depth chart is released late Monday afternoon. There is a good chance Steelman, who scored three touchdowns against Wake Forest, will be listed as the starter.
Army has its first practice of the week Tuesday.
Steelman took a shot to the ribs by Wake Forest safety T.J. Marshal on a keeper play with 10 minutes left in the fourth quarter. He stayed in for one play before heading to the sidelines. Steelman returned two plays later and picked up a first down on 4th-and-short. After the play, Steelman went to a knee, got to his feet, tried to walk off the field and took another knee. He didn’t play the final seven minutes and change.
Having Steelman, who has rushed for 201 yards, 198 in the last two games, under center would be a big boost for Army (0-3). Army’s offense gained just 19 yards on 10 plays without him against Wake Forest.
