Army coach Rich Ellerson said sophomore safety Hayden Pierce will play against Navy on Dec. 8 at Lincoln Financial Field after missing the last six games with a collarbone injury.
“Hayden was questionable for Temple (Army’s last game on Nov. 17,” Ellerson said. “So he’s going to play. How long, I don’t know.”
Senior left tackle Ben Jebb, who has missed the last two games with foot and ankle injuries, is expected to practice by the end of the week. Jebb, a 2009 Cornwall graduate, will try and play in his final game. He started the first eight games.
Running back Terry Baggett has practiced the past two weeks but Ellerson said he isn’t sure if the sophomore will play against Navy. Baggett fractured his kneecap in Army’s second game against Northern Illinois on Sept. 15 .
“I’m not sure how close to the field he (Baggett) needs to be,” Ellerson said. “There’s an awful lot of rust on that engine right now. I think that would be asking an awful lot. He is practicing. Tomorrow (Thursday), he’ll be on the ground some. That’s going to be great for for a lot of reasons just going forward. Can he play a role next Saturday? To be determined.”
