Black-Gold game update, rosters

The Black & Gold game is now set to be an offense vs. defense scrimmage.

Why offense vs. defense over a team scrimmage?

As offensive coordinator Ian Shields put it earlier this week, the team, “is limping to the finish line.”

Army is so thin at some positions that I thought I saw quarterback coach Andy Guyader lining up as a running back on one practice play earlier this week.

The Black Knights started spring practice without 13 players including returning starters RB Raymond Maples, T Momo Kime (tackle); LB Alex Meier; S Hayden Pierce, CB Marques Avery and S Brandon Fusilier-Jeffires.

Eighteen more players, who have participate in spring practices, are not practicing in the spring game due to injuries suffered in practice or other factors.  The list of players includes: junior rover Justin Trimble (starter last season); junior strong safety Lyle Beloney; junior safety Tyler Dickson, sophomore RB Tony Giovannelli; sophomore running back Lawrence Scott; freshman linebacker Marcus Poling; sophomore linebacker Stephen Riccardi and junior guard-tackle Zach Reichert.

The Black Knights will warm up at noon and the scrimmage will start shortly after.
