First-half blog: Wake Forest 10, Army 5 half

Wake Forest RB Josh Harris loses handoff at Wake 25, ball pops out near Wake 40, about 3-4 Army players have shot to recover, ball bounces toward Wake Forest sideline before Army’s Thomas Holloway recovers at Wake 41 with 28 seconds left. Angel Santiago quick pass left to Xavier Moss for 6 yards to Wake 35, Moss can’t get out of bounds. Santiago spikes ball with 11 seconds left. Santiago completes pass to Chevaughn Lawrence on left side as time expires. Clock mismanagement for Army in final seconds.

 Army’s Terry Baggett 51-yard run to Wake Forest 24. Quick pass right to Xavier Moss for 8 yards to Wake Forest 17 on 2nd-and-11. QB Angel Santiago held to no gain on 3rd-and-3. After false start penalty, Dan Grochowski makes 39-yard field goal, Wake Forest 10, Army 5, :38 left 2nd Q

Wake Forest QB Tanner Price 66-yard TD pass to Michael Campanaro. Campanaro ran a crossing route, caught the pass at the Wake 46 and raced down the right sideline. CB Chris Carnegie made a diving attempt near the goal line but couldn’t bring Campanaro down. Wake Forest 10, Army 2, 1:28 left 2nd quarter.

Army freshman CB Josh Jenkins picks off Tanner Price in end zone. Price was targeting Orville Reynolds, who was double covered. Michael Campanaro was wide open and raising his hands in middle of field. Jenkins has his 2nd interception in as many games.

Terry Baggett takes pitch right and picks up 6 yards on 3rd-and-7 to Army’s 34. Army punts. Wake Forest punt returner Michael Campanaro could have stepped out of bounds, picks up about 10 yards to Wake 28, Wake Forest 3, Army 2, 7:36 left 2nd Q.

Huge chop-block penalty on Wake Forest, negates run to Army 9 and moves ball back to Army 32. Wake Forest QB Tanner Price low and incomplete to receiver Michael Campanaro, who fell down near right pylon. Wake Forest kicker Chad Hedlund makes 35-yard field goal, 9:39 left 2nd Q.

Army QB A.J. Schurr has fumbled on the Black Knights’ last two drives. Wake Forest’s Hunter Williams recovered both fumbles at Army’s 25 and 40. Wake Forest’s Chad Hedlund 25-yard field goal hit the left upright and was no good.

For the second straight week, Schurr replaced starter Angel Santiago in Army’s third series of the game.

Terry Baggett dodges Wake Forest tackler for 7 yards and his third first down of game to Army 29. False start on guard Zach Reichert gives Army 3rd-and-7 from own 32. Trenton Turrentine takes pitch left, gets great edge block by Baggett, gains 12 yards to Army 44. Second false start penalty on Reichert on 1st down. Army’s defense starts game in 2-5-4 alignment. Bobby Kough and Mike Ugenyi only defensive lineman. Josh Harris rushes for 8 yards on 1st down to Wake Forest 28. Harris rushed for 129 yards against Army last season but has just 55 yards in 3 games this season. Harris falls for 6 yards and first down to Wake 34. Harris one more time, 4 yards to Wake 38 on first down. Jarrett Mackey tips Tanner Price pass, falls incomplete on second down. Price incomplete to Harris down left sideline on third down. Terry Baggett picks up 5 yards to Army 39 for game’s initial first down. Baggett inside for 3 yards to 50 for another first down. QB Angel Santiago on designed draw picks up 8 yards to Wake Forest 42 on 3rd-and-12. Santiago had space on the left sideline but he ran right in between his blockers. Army punts, touchback. 10:28 left in 1st Q
