Army senior running back Raymond Maples practiced Wednesday for the first time since he suffered a groin injury against Stanford on Sept. 14.
Coach Rich Ellerson said Maples sat out of practice Thursday due to soreness and is day-to-day. But, the hope is Maples will play at Air Force next Saturday.
Junior free safety Geoff Bacon returned to practice this week after missing the last four games with a wrist injury. Bacon will remain at free safety and not move to middle linebacker, which he played last season, Ellerson said.
Ellerson said he expects sophomore quarterback A.J. Schurr to practice on Friday. Schurr has not played quarterback in the last four games due to an ankle injury.
