Weird stat: Longest runs by RB during Ellerson Era

Army junior Tony Giovannelli’s 68-yard run in the first quarter against Western Kentucky Saturday was the fifth-longest rush by a running back in the Rich Ellerson Era (2009 to present).

Five of the top six runs have come this season. Juniors fullback Larry Dixon has four runs on the list.

Five of the best 10 runs are against Eastern Michigan, which fired coach Ron English last week.

75 – Pat Mealy (vs. Eastern Michigan, 9/5/09)

67 – Terry Baggett (vs. Eastern Michigan, 10/12/13)
57 – Larry Dixon (vs. Vanderbilt, 10/22/11)
57 – Raymond Maples (vs. Fordham, 10/29/11)
55 – Malcolm Brown (vs. Eastern Michigan, 10/20/12)
55 – Larry Dixon (vs. Rutgers, 11/12/11)
