Who will be on Monken’s staff

Army coach Jeff Monken is in the process of putting together his coaching staff after being named Tuesday.

Monken is likely to bring over a handful of his coaches from Georgia Southern and retain some coaches from Rich Ellerson’s staff at West Point.

Mitch Ware, Georgia Southern’s assistant head coach and quarterbacks coach, is a likely candidate to follow Monken to Army. Ware was an assistant coach at Navy for four years (1998-2001), coaching quarterbacks for three seasons.

Georgia Southern defensive line coach Vic Cabral also could be an addition to Monken’s staff.

A logical choice to remain at Army under Monken is offensive line coach Todd Spencer. Spencer worked with Monken at Navy from 2002-07.

A few West Point graduates should be on the staff. Will Monken retain cornerbacks coach Tony Coaxum? Or might he bring in Jets special teams coach Ben Kotwica, who also interviewed for the head coaching position?
