3 Ga. Southern assistants join Army coaching staff

Donald Heath of the Savannah Morning News reported new Army coach Jeff Monken confirmed to him that three Georgia Southern assistants – Mitch Ware (assistant head coach/quarterbacks), Lamont Seward (running backs) and Sean Saturnio (tight end) – have been added to Monken’s staff at West Point Thursday.

Ware spent four years working under Monken at Georgia Southern. He was Navy’s quarterbacks coach from 1998-2001.

It is not certain if Ware will be Army’s offensive coordinator. Heath said Georgia Southern offensive coordinator Brent Davis is interviewing for the school’s head coaching opening, according to Monken. Davis could join Army’s staff if isn’t named Georgia Southern head coach.

Seward coached wide receivers for his first two seasons and running backs his last two seasons at Georgia Southern.

Saturnio, who played at Hawaii, was also the director of player development at Georgia Southern. Army didn’t use tight ends in its last five seasons under Rich Ellerson.
