Davis new Army OC

Jeff Monken has added another Georgia Southern assistant coach to his Army staff.

Brent Davis, Monken’s offensive coordinator at Georgia Southern the last three seasons, will serve in the same capacity at West Point.

Georgia Southern averaged 360 rushing yards per game running Davis’ option offense in 2013.

Davis met with Georgia Southern athletic director Tom Kleinlein Friday, thinking he was a candidate for Georgia Southern’s head coaching opening. But, Kleinlein interviewed Davis to stay on as offensive coordinator, a source said.

Monken, who was in Statesboro, Ga. Friday, told Donald Heath of the Savannah Morning News on Thursday if Davis wasn’t hired as Georgia Southern’s new coach that he would hired him at Army.

Georgia Southern assistants Mitch Ware (quarterbacks), Lamont Seward (running backs) and Sean Saturnio (tight ends) were added by Monken Thursday.
