Recruiting: QB James bolts Army for Air Force

Army has lost an important member of its 2015 recruiting class.

Morgan Park (Ill.) senior quarterback William James tweeted Friday morning that he will be playing for another service academy – Air Force.

“I would like to say thanks to Army on their staff for the offer and opportunity to be apart of their team,” James said within a post on Twitter. “I have decided to de-commit from Army and commit to the Air Force Academy. This came after a lot of prayers and discussion with my family, coaches and peers, I feel that Air Force is the best opportunity for me to be successful on and off the field. I couldn’t pass up being apart of the life lasting Bolt Brotherhood.”

James, who is 6-foot-2, 206 pounds and runs the 40-yard dash in 4.5 seconds, committed to Army during an official visit to West Point on Jan 11.

In February, James said he planned on attending Army Prep to learn Army’s triple-option system.

James’ switch caught some commits by surprise.
