Mooney to sign with Falcons

Former Army fullback Collin Mooney will sign a two-year contract with the Falcons Monday.

Mooney had a tryout with the Falcons earlier this week. He spent two years with the Titans.¬† Mooney played in two games in 2012, rushing for 19 yards in the Titans’ season finale. He appeared in 12 games, making four starts in 2013. Mooney caught six passes for 32 yards before suffering a season-ending injury.¬†Tennessee released Mooney in August 2014.

The Falcons have one fullback – Patrick DiMarco. DiMarco has played in 30 games, making 14 starts, in the last two seasons for the Falcons. He has 17 career receptions, one touchdown catch and no career carries.

As a senior, Mooney set an Army single-season record, rushing for 1,339 yards.

Spoke with Mooney last month at Army’s spring game. He said he opened a gym in Nashville and was entering in Crossfit competitions.
