Recruiting: Kicker exits 2017 class

Howard (Md.) senior kicker/punter Michael Gillespie posted his decommitment from Army Football on social media Wednesday.

Gillespie had committed to Army on Dec. 15 and visited West Point the weekend of Jan. 13-15.

“After many weeks of prayer and contemplation I have decided to decommit from West Point,” Gillespie wrote. “I want to thank West Point for the great opportunity, but I feel as though it is not the path for me. I also would like to make it clear that neither the Academy nor the football staff has done anything to negatively influence my decision.”

Army received a late commitment from Jesuit (Tampa, Fla.) kicker Camden Bauman last week.  Bauman made nine field goals and 75-of-76 extra points for 102 points as a senior.
