Christian Poe off team

One of the few question marks left for Army’s offense following spring practice was who would replace senior wide receiver Edgar Poe’s downfield production this fall.

Christian Poe, Edgar’s brother, was the leading candidate to fill the role and ended spring as a top wide receiver alongside Jeff Ejekam. But, it appears Army will have to look elsewhere for its second starting wideout.

Poe’s name was removed from Army’s roster online recently. Confirmed earlier today, Poe is off the team. Poe tweeted Thursday that he is leaving the academy.

Poe, who started two games in 2016, was the team’s second-leading receiver with 10 catches for 133 yards as a sophomore. He shined in Army’s spring game in April, taking a reverse 40 yards for a touchdown. Poe’s best game as a Black Knight may have been last October when he caught all three of Army’s completions in monsoon-like conditions at Duke.

Army’s depth chart at wide receiver includes sophomore wide receivers Glen Coates and Kjetil Cline. Senior Jermaine Adams is also in the mix to start.

Adams worked his way into the receiver rotation and doubled as Army’s punter in three games. Adams and Coates each caught their only reception of the 2016 season against Lafayette.
