Marcus Hyatt update

Marcus Hyatt returned to Michie Stadium for Army’s season opener last Friday night.

Hyatt, a cornerback who started eight games as a sophomore last season, took the field from warmups with his teammates and cheered on the Black Knights from the sidelines of  64-6 win over Fordham.

Coach Jeff Monken said Hyatt was just visiting the team. Hyatt will not play this season. He’s taking a medical leave of absence from the academy, Monken said. Hyatt continues his recovery from a neurological disorder earlier in the year. He was placed in a medically-induced coma and spent 90 days in the hospital.

Earlier in the preseason, Monken said the hope was for Hyatt to return to the academy in the second semester. Hyatt had 29 tackles, 2 interceptions, six pass defensed and four pass breakouts in eight games in 2016.
