Prediction time: Buffalo

Army is a 15.5-point home favorite against Buffalo Saturday at Michie Stadium.

The Black Knights were a 14-point road favorite at Buffalo last September and lost 23-20 in overtime, blowing a 14-point lead in the fourth quarter. That ending should be motivation for Army’s returning players.

A couple of stats to ponder on the Buffalo side: The Bulls are 1-10 in non-conference road games since 2010 and have won just one of their last 10 games since defeating Army last season.

Just don’t think Buffalo’s offense will be able to keep up with Army. The Bulls managed just 51 rushing yards on 22 carries in a 17-7 loss at Minnesota last week. Buffalo had just five first downs in the final three quarters against the Gophers.

Buffalo averaged just 16.5 points per game last season with returning quarterback Tyree Jackson.

Army’s triple-option offense, which had 15 players combined for 513 yards against Fordham last week, gets deeper with the season debut of talented sophomore slotback Kell Walker.

Sal Interdonato (Times Herald-Record beat writer): Army 38, Buffalo 14. Expect Army’s defense to shut down Buffalo and its offense to pick up where it left off last weekend. Ahmad Bradshaw, Darnell Woolfolk and the rest of the Black Knight backfield will prove to be too much for the Bulls. This game has the potential of another Army blowout.
