Recruiting: Louisiana RB Dillan Monette joins 2020 class

Acadiana (La.) running back Dillan Monette’s lifelong goal is to become an orthopedic surgeon.

The idea of becoming a future Army surgeon intrigued Monette when he received an offer from the Black Knights last month.

Monette didn’t wait long to make his college decision after the offer. He verbally committed Mike Viti on Thursday (May 2) when Army’s fullback coach Mike Viti visited Acadiana High School. Monette called Army coach Jeff Monken to confirm his commitment Friday (May 3).

“It’s a top football program,” Monette said. “It’s an honor to attend West Point. They would support me in medical school.”

Monette hopes to follow the path of senior linebacker Kenneth Brinson. Brinson has been named a Stanford University Knight-Hennessy Scholar and will an MD and PhD in engineering at Stanford.

Army is adding speed with Monette’s commitment. Monette said his best time in the 40-yard dash is 4.41 seconds. Army is recruiting the 5-foot-7, 170-pound Monette to play slotback.
