Recruiting: Georgia fullback Parker commits to Black Knights

Academics. Culture. Campus.

Three factors high on Lincoln Parker’s list when making his college decision.

West Point delivered on all three for the Marist School (Ga.) fullback. Parker committed to Army’s coaching staff Thursday and announced his decision Saturday as he experienced the Black Knights’ virtual Junior Day.

“I want to go to school that will give me a great degree that I can use in the future,” Parker said. “I want to go to a school that uses fullbacks and to a school that I know I will fit in. I look at the school campus and see if I could enjoy living there for four years of my life. Army easily checks all these boxes.

“Army, being a military school, requires five years of service after graduating. I have always considered serving in the military and the commitment was an easy decision for me.”

Military runs in Parker’s family. Both of Parker’s grandfather served. One was a radiologist in the military, the other was in the Air Force.

“I love my country and want to pay my country back for all it has done for me,” said the 5-foot-11, 215-pound Parker.

Parker said other schools showed interest but Army was his lone offer. Other schools looked at Parker as preferred walk-on because of his position.

“Army has shown a ton of interest since they offered me and I want to be at a place I will play at,” Parker said.

Army virtually hosted prospects across the country including Hawaii Saturday. Parker received videos showing West Point’s campus.

“It’s really nice because it opens up your whole day but I have not seen any other school do their Junior Day like Army’s,” Parker said. “The campus is absolutely beautiful even through video.”

Parker continues Army’s connection to Marist. The private Atlanta-area school has produced standouts Mike Gann and Kenneth Brinson for the Black Knights.
